I don't remember what I planted in this garden. A couple years ago, I sprinkled a seed mixture and now this is one of the things I have growing. It's multiple places in two different gardens. My grandma said it's a weed and someone else suggested bleeding heart. Thought I'd check it out here. What do you all think? pic 1 ( photo / image / picture from candle2003's Garden ) pic 2: Growing in a crack between the raised bed and patio. Some of what I am seeing in the photo makes me think Dicentra formosa (Pacific Bleeding Heart) check out the photos and see what you think.
Yeah, I think it's kind of pretty too. I don't have anything else growing there and am too busy to plant right now, so I'm probably just going to leave it for this year. If I pull it, that space will just fill up with less pretty weeds. Toni, it could be. I think I'll leave it this year and find out. If it doesn't start blooming soon though, I suppose I'll know. moderator's note: removed double posting see point 3.6 of usage rules
It looks a lot like a weed I see frequently. It is pretty, and it mimics a desirable plant so it can hang around. One thing about it if it is this weed, it can't be pulled, you have to dig it up.
I kept a weed that looked a bit like that about 5 years ago and it has become the bane of my existence. It keeps cropping up throughout my garden. I conduct weeding expeditions for it every 2 weeks or so during the growing season. Just today I pulled out another 4 seedlings of it. My suggestion is that you watch it v-e-r-y carefully and don't let it set seed unless you know what it is. Good luck!
Yep, It has a great tap root. Uglyish nondescript sparse spiky daisy-like tiny white flower. While the foliage isn't ugly it will populate your garden with a lot of little off spring.
Carolyn--I think you & I have had the same garden miscreant. I allowed it to grow because the foliage was pretty, but when it set seed I knew I was in trouble. Thousands upon thousands of seeds everywhere! I did my best to bag up the plant, seeds & all, but I have been battling the seedlings ever since
