Got a lot of small stuff done, today. Enlarged the circle flower-bed around the pretty little lilac bush that I put in last spring. I planted "Blue Bean" vine at base of an iron pole that's just outside my kitchen window; should be pretty to look at while doing dishes. Put in clump of white Peonies & 3 dahlias I got in a trade, yesterday. Planted 2 Tuberose bulbs close to my sunroom door & on either side of my favorite garden sitting-place, so I can enjoy the decadent fragrance when I relax! Planted Penny Black seed. I planted "Green Wizard" Rudbeckia, Black Pansies & "Green Apples" columbine seed in tiny paper cups, set them on a tray, covered tray with Saran Wrap. My sunroom is a blessing this time of year. OK, i'm tired!
You've achieved quite an amount in one day - neither wonder you're feeling tired. Isn't it great though to be outside playing in the dirt? :-D
No place i'd rather be! It's always a balancing act in early spring, though; trying to keep up with housework & also get everything planted & spruced up.
Girls if I could give 2 seeds I'd do it!!! I have one heck of a time with the housework/yard work thing :-? I would much rather be out in the yard! The way I figure it, it is just our dirt, no one else ever sees it and it's dirty enough to be happy and clean enough to be healthy!!!
That's my motto too, stratsmom; except that I have 8 birds ( three of which are parrots) & between moulting & flinging seed hulls, if I don't clean up every single day it's just ungodly! I pretty much figure, though, that the rest of the house can just kind of suffer a bit for 3 weeks or so, until I get all the flowerbeds cleaned out & all the plants, bulbs & seeds in.There's only a small window of time to get these things done.
My housework only gets done when it rains -- or at night after the sun goes down. I just can't stand burning daylight! Gotta be out there. Now that I'm in my 50s, tho, I can only work a few hours then have to take a break. My "break" is sitting in the sun making another to do garden list!
Oh....birds, yes, they require daily effort. they are messy, thats for sure. My mom has had love birds for a long time, oh my are they messy!
carolyn keiper, I had lovebirds for awhile, too. Sadly, my hubby was driven right to the edge of insanity by their intense, high-pitched screaming & insisted I find a new home for them (sigh). Luckily my elderly neighbor Dorothy lives alone & adores lovebirds (noise & all) and was so thrilled to get them.
