Last year I got 2 little purple lilac saplings from a lady. Wasn't expecting any blooms for at least another year. Was out puttering around a bit ago & lo & behold, there's a small cluster of blooms on one bud!!

I love lilac!! They attract so many insects -especially butterflies and bees and have the lovliest scent. I'm so glad yours has flowered for you.

That's great! Lilac is my favorite spring blooming shrub. I have a huge one just outside the kitchen window and the scent of the blooms is divine. The Hummingbirds LOVE it too!

I also like it. But we also need to dig up suckers, and some eventual saplings...

They do smell lovely. I wish they lasted longer, though. Enjoy yours while it blooms and PLEASE INHALE deeply for me. We just pulled ours out, so I won't get any sniffs from them. I won't miss the plants, but I will miss the fragrance.

Congrats! After seeing your post, I ran outside to check my Lilac, and it too is blooming! I planted it 3 years ago, and was beginning to wonder if it ever would.

I'm so excited for you Luv. I've got a whole section of driveway I'm planning on lining with lilacs. Miss the ones I had at my old house. They smell so good. If you can, post some pics for us.

Bip, I love the Yellow ones. I had those on my list to get, but I think they require more sun then the others, so I'll need to find another place to put those. I hope you enjoy when they bloom and post some pics for us.
