You are a mover and a doer. I love playing in the yard; but you've brought out a good point-where do you actually stop. Gardening is infinite.

Good luck with the succulents. For me here in Lake Charles, there are 2 types. Those that thrive and those I buy just to look at (blissful photons) until they get rot and perish.

Bliss... my problem with this project is... where do I stop and HOW do I start again. Then stop... and then start again so I can stop at the archway/gate.

I love all the little touches to your garden area. Isn't it funny how one thing leads to another. And I'm very jealous of your soggy ground. We are having a drought in our area of FL. While it may rain here and there in SW FL, it hasn't rained on our little acre. We have a dustbowl here. Your backyard is very comfy looking, a pleasant working area. Thank you for the pictures.

Thank you for the kind words Freckles. It's been dry here lately, today is the first day of rain in all of April.
So it's been pretty dry. I'm actually looking forward to getting home from work to see how the water is draining...and to walk to rain gauge without stepping in mud! :-D

    Hi Cheryl,
what a lovely transformation you made,..it should not only do the job but looks good as well,..as for extending that area out into the garden and around your potting table area and towards the Archway,..how about a gravel path from the hose pipe, and underfoot at your potting table area then stepping stones from there to your archway,..just another idea,.. :) .

I note you couldn't resist the temptation to fill in some gaps with some new plants..nice seclection.

Oh just thinking of Sassy Marie..is that wood chip dog friendly? Some are not and smell like chocolate but are lethal.

Thanks Philip! You know... I'm not sure if the mulch is dog friendly or not. But, I have mulch all over the place and Sassy has never messed with any of it. There's too much other stuff for her to get into!
But I will go back to the store and check the bag to see if there are any warnings.

and I've been tossing about the idea of gravel too. But I keep questioning how will I keep it from spilling over into the grass?

Well... I got it done. I thank everyone for their input!

Here's the new view out to the garden.
(some of the blocks have settled... time to relevel!)

And facing towards the storage building.

I decided to connect both pads with those stepping stones just to keep some consistency.

And finally, my potting stand area.

I can now go from the back steps to the potting stand area without stepping in any mud or dirt... or trampling the grass! woohoooo!
And those round pads... would you believe I went to 15 different places and could not find a single one??? They used to be so common.
Luckily, I was able to scrounge up enough from around here.
My cousin was over and I asked him what he thought of them between the two areas. He said, "looks like you just threw them out there". Good! It took me about an hour to make it look that way!

Congrats Cherylad! You will so enjoy going out of a morning to do some potting up.

I love that potting bench you have with the tubs underneath & the tools hanging above. What a treasure!

Do you charge by the hour for landscaping? :p I could do with your help around here!! I love what you've done Cheryl. Well done you for all the hard work you put in. It's certainly well worth the effort and looks terrific now. :-D

All you need now is Aralia spinosa.

You can play "Hop Scotch" going around the corner from one patio to the other.

An interesting solution to the connection problem. Trimming the grass may be a bit bumpy unless the blocks are recessed into the ground. Otherwise, a lovely job, I am going to steal your potting bench idea and make one of my own.

    Thanks everyone!
Cayuga... I think I need to get some more plants just to pot them up!

Eileen... If I got paid for doing this... I'd have to do it perfectly... and that would take so much time that no one could afford me!

Blissful.... Had to look up Aralia spinosa. Pretty tree... but I don't have any room for a tree.

Barb... I must have walked back and forth 20 times just trying to get them in the right place for how I walk. Everyone else will just have to adjust their gait.

Jerry... I've found that the blocks will settle in over time. Plus I'll just trim that area with the weed whacker. I also have a plan to get the grass to fill in around them too. Every time I dig up some grass to plant something or to make a flower bed, I'm going to transplant the grass over there. Guess who's going to be making a new flower bed soon?

I love the potting bench too. I showed Hubby a couple of pictures of some and then explained what I wanted. I think he did a great job. It needs a new paint job... the white is turning colors like it has mildew or something. So I'll add that to my to-do list.

Cherylad--I like the color of your shed with the paler shade on the trim.

Ah mildew! I just spent part of Saturday scrubbing our fake wood deck with a bleach solution to get rid of it. It works, but my clothes don't look so good now.
