I was cutting out aprons and tote bags last night and the next fabric on the pile was this one. I'm not sure what I was thinking when I bought it. busy pattern ( photo / image / picture from dooley's Garden ) busy busy material ( photo / image / picture from dooley's Garden ) Would someone wear a garden apron made out of this fabric? It might scare all of the bugs away. It does have some big flowers on it though. Maybe it would be better to make tote bags. My neighbor told me kids like bright garish? prints for tote bags. dooley
I'd wear it in a minute! Especially if I were doing a booth at a 4th of July festival. The colors are right, the flowers are great, and it just screams "Gardening"!
Yep, I'd wear it too (if I wore aprons that is), especially on Memorial Day, July 4th, Flag Day, etc. Bags would be nice also. I think it's kind of neat!
I think it's cute. I am sure you wouldn't have any trouble selling them, especially for memorial day and 4th of July...make one and see how fast it goes. I think you'll need more that one, though.
I love the fabric! Whether you decide on totes or aprons... I bet they will go fast! Just wondering. Have you made aprons geared towards grilling or BBQs? That fabric would be great for the grill-master that has almost everything. She/he would look mighty fancy at the Memorial Day, July 4th or Labor Day BBQs.
I do make bbq aprons, Cheryl. They have two rows of pockets, three pockets each row. Plue the two pockets up top for cell phones, etc. I've sold them at the farm market and all of my boys have them. (Christmas, birthdays, etc.)The material is not as heavy as the garden aprons. I make farm aprons with a big pocket for picking stuff, garden aprons with a small pocket and a row of three pockets, kitchen aprons with a row of pockets, bbq aprons with two rows of pockets, kid size aprons and the half apron that a lot of women like. Plus, tote (book) bags of all sizes. The farm market is scheduled to start next week so I've gotten busy trying to make new stuff. I wasn't sure about that material though. Guess I'll try it. dooley
Yes I would wear them. My whole garden is USA theme. And I need to start wearing aprons-bad habits of wiping hands on jeans when cooking :?: :?: Wonder why they are dirty.
I think the busy fabric would also help hide any unfortunate stains that might occur. This would be a plus to me.
dooley, So if we make a very very positive post here will we win a chance to receive a free apron???? YES, YES! It is really great. Who wouldn't want such a bright, patiotic, happy piece like that. NOW----,---- I would like one with 3 pockets on the front. Will be great not just for 'BarbieQ' but for some special gardening times also. Thank you very much. Barbie in Pa.
Well to be honest I wouldn't want to wear it in the garden. I might mess it up or snag it and it's a lovely fabric. I'd prefer it to be made into tote bags.
eileen, I use aprons in the in the greenhouse. I love the pockets. I also use them for cooling. I think they have gone by the wayside but not at my house. Even my hubby uses them sometimes but they are MANLY ones. Barb in Pa.
