Your sofa has just the right sized nook for him. He fits into it nicely and obviously likes taking full advantage of it to have a nap.
I saw this picture, and instantly exploded into laughter! Because it reminded me of my own Dog, as this is exactly how she too would behave all the time (crashed on the couch). I swear, somethings never ever change...
It looks to me like a tummy set for rubbing. I too have a dog who is always in this position on the couch. And always welcomes any surprise belly rubbing. Your little dog is very cute!
My cat likes to sleep in that position. It is tempting to rub his belly but he really does not like it and will scratch so I only doing it when I want to annoy him.
