Hello everyone! My girlfriend and I are in the middle of buying our first house. I'm really excited to have a lawn for the first time and actually being able to have plants. I never thought flower gardening would be something that would interest me, but I find myself being very excited. I decided to join here to make some new friends and get help and give help where I can! I am still in that learning phase, so I'm not really sure what I will want to plant. But I am a big fan of lilies, so I would expect we will have some of those. I work for an insurance company in Bloomington, Illinois. I graduated from the University of Illinois in 2008. I like to run and paint when I get the chance. I look forward to getting to know everyone!

A warm welcome from Central Texas! You'll love it here--lots of friendly good advice and some great gardening friends!
Thank you everyone for the welcome! waretrop: I do know where the quad cities are! I have been through there a few times going to Iowa / Colorado, but never really spent any time there. I had been planning on a flower garden in the back yard, but there is already landscaping dug out in the front. I'll have to go in and pull a bunch of the plants they already have and start over there. I'll be sure to post some pics of the whole project coming to life. And I'll eventually post some painting pics Tooty2shoes. I'm working on a still life of some gerbera daisies for my girlfriend as a new house gift.
