We have some more new neighbors. In total, there are 19, I think. They have their own pen but like associating with the new goats. The squares in the fence are large enough they can get through them yet. They are growing fast so I don't think that will last much longer. I wish I had gotten a picture when they were wee little. I sure wouldn't want them in my flower garden but they are so cute...but 19 of anything is way too many.
They sure are cute when they are little. I have heard there is a feral hog problem in Texas, do you have it where you are at or is this an area without them? Are they domestic pigs that have gotten loose and turned feral or are they a different species of porcine?
Yes, we have them in this area. There are about 2,000,000 hogs in the United States. One million of them are in T exas. Most of them are in East Texas in the Piney Woods. It is not unusual to see a three to four hundred pound pig snooping around. There have been some weighing six hundred or more pounds. They do a lot of damage and lots of people trap them. They root around hay fields and tear up the ground and they will kill other animals and dogs. Sometimes at night you will see them but they hide in the day. Arizona has the same problems with javalinas. dooley
Yeah, I am thinking you don't want to have a run in with one of these wild ones. I hear they can be dangerous. Or is that only if they are wounded or will they come at you unprovoked?
Baby Pigs! My wife and I had always wanted to build a place where we could have pets-I wanted a calf and she wanted piglets. Oink Oink. Green Acres is the place to be...
Those are SO cute Dooley! My 8 year old has a real fascination with pigs lately and just said that you should send her one (Not really though ... we have no place to keep a pig! LOL) haha I can so relate Cherylad! I find it truly ridiculous how my neighbors can use something in their yard and you will still see it laying there a year or more later! Unless of course we get a really GOOD wind and it ends up in MY yard...
I can't send her a pig, Netty. They are neighbors and our neighbor would wonder where her pigs were going if I started sending them out to other places. They are only close enough to get a picture because they were visiting the little goats. dooley
