A few things are blooming on a drippy wet day. The warm weather last week got some plants thinking about opening up those flowers. first clematis bloom ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) rhodie ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) lewisea ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) more columbine ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) maybe a barlow mix aguilena ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden )
Nice! Love that Lewisia. Mine didn't bloom yet this year. I think it's past the right blooming time Love your spelling for Aquilegia. Just a little bit and it's Aguilera
Oh, I haven't seen lewesia before. That is beautiful. Now I want some. Everything else is pretty, too.
Very nice Jewell, pink is my favorite color in the garden. Seeing your Lewesia reminded me that mine has disappeared.
Thanks all for the kind comments. They are as lovely as the flowers. Calin, I am so glad you noticed the spelling. I was thinking it was really weird as I copied it off the seed packet. At the time I was wondering if the seed packet was written in Spanish or if it was just misspelled, but I was too tired to do more than copy. aguilena = columbine? Or is perenne = perennial? Both on the packet. And with that the seed packet says the seed origin is from France. Guess Burpee seeds are international, even if I am a stuck in the mud/garden. Funny they don't use the Latin names. Guess they let the flower photos speak for themselves. It works for me. Gfreiherr and Calin, I have to keep my lewisea potted and covered against the rain for them to survive the winter here. I love the way they rebloom several times throughout the summer.
Yes Jewell, def. not "English"...nor Latin My Lewisia bloomed nicely last spring (right after getting it in a trade and finding a place for it in the garden). This spring...it survived really harsh conditions, but it's not blooming.
Calin--Interesting that you had really harsh conditions last winter. Here in New England, it was the mildest winter I can remember. But for all that, I have lost some plants. I think it was due to not having any snow cover. Most of the US had a really mild winter, I think.
Hi Jewell, looking at that last picture,.. the very same flower popped up in my garden this year,..i didn't have a clue as to its name,..now i know which direction to look in. I like that Clematis adorned with raindrops,..i have just aquired a Clematis,"Freckles",..hope it thrives for me,.. all you other pinks are very eyecatching.
