A friend on another gardening site had to move. She had many beautiful irises and did not have room for all of them at her new home. She asked if anybody wanted a box. Now how can you pass up a deal like free iris for postage. The iris came in August (2010). I planted them or so I thought. The following May (2011) while stacking some boxes in my utility shed something slid in one of the boxes. I found an iris rhizome wrapped in newspaper I had missed planting in August (9 months later). It was solid not squishy so I planted it. It was worth a try. Did I tell you I love irises? Two weeks later I saw green! I thought to myself, I wonder what color will it be. I found out last week. It turned out to be an old favorite. "Wabash" This has always been my favorite. The white, the purple, the yellow. Don
That is so pretty.I have to replant some lady sent me. I planted them too deep. Never bloomed. But Your Iris was just waiting for you to show it's beauty .
Interesting. Gorgeous bloom! You do have green patience. SOmetimes I lack, and I kill plants. Checking for germinating seeds, checking if cuttings rooted and so on... and the outcome is I sometimes KILL future plants.
