I have been told that I need to post more photos. Rather than incur the wrath of fellow stewbies, here are a few of the farm and critters: backyard flower bed ( photo / image / picture from marlingardener's Garden ) This is the path through the back yard to the workshop and barn. Outbuildings ( photo / image / picture from marlingardener's Garden ) My husband's workshop, and farther on the barn where the ladies live. Ladies in outside coop ( photo / image / picture from marlingardener's Garden ) This is the outside coop, or playground al fresco, as the ladies like to consider it. Small herb garden ( photo / image / picture from marlingardener's Garden ) This is the small herb garden just outside the kitchen door. Rise 'n Shine, face to face ( photo / image / picture from marlingardener's Garden ) This is a Rise 'n Shine rose outside the workshop door. Guys like pretty things, too! Crossvine (Auisostichus careolata) ( photo / image / picture from marlingardener's Garden ) I planted a Crossvine on the wire fence. Not my best idea, since I've had to mow around it for four years! And this is my view from my kitchen window (and the patio, too.) Hope you like Red Gate Farm! Pond in autumn ( photo / image / picture from marlingardener's Garden )
Gosh Jane you should post more photographs as these ones are lovely. Everything looks so neat and tidy!! Do I like Red Gate Farm - NO - I love it. You must have a varied and wonderful variety of wildlife visiting your property. You should definitely post more pictures for us.
Looks like a beautiful place. I particularly love the view from your kitchen window. Would even make me want to do the dishes!
You're so lucky to live in such a lovely place. I probably wouldn't even get out of the kitchen with that view. Your ladies certainly look happy, and that small herb garden of yours... Have you got a big one too I wonder?
Wow,..what a view from your kitchen window,..a scene that would change as the sky changes,..and always lots of movement on the water surface. Lovely flower on your Crossvine (Auisostichus careolata),..even though you have to mow around it,..its a keeper. Of Course the rose caught my eye,..very nice,..we guys do like pretty things, lol. All your ladies look alert and well dressed,..i hope they give you lots of nice eggs,..and make use of those healthy looking Herbs,..thanks for sharing some views of "Red Gate Farm",..keep that camera at hand.
You've made a lovely place to call home. Chickens fascinate me, we can not have them in my city. They all seem to be the same breed, was there a reason you chose that particular one?
So glad you posted some photos Jane! Everything looks great..... especially your view. Now you have to show us even more of Red Gate!
Y'all are so complimentary! We love our little farm. Cayuga, I have a dishwasher (thank heavens!), but while washing veggies or canning, I take advantage of the view out the kitchen window. Droopy, the big herb garden is at the side of the workshop and has the herbs I dry, or use to make herbal vinegars. The little one has the herbs I use the most in the kitchen. Cuatro-gatos, the hens are Black Australorps, a cross between an Australian breed and Buff Orpintons. They were chosen because they can stand our heat, and they are great layers. We have 10 hens and get 5-7 eggs a day. The four older girls don't lay as often, but I love them anyway! Cheryl, I'll take the camera out soon and take more photos. Right now I'm in the middle of bread baking for a church sale, and canning tomatoes. Retirement, hah!
Thank you for posting the Red Gate Farm pictures, now we can better understand the posts as you mention parts of the farm. Was Miss Moneypenny in the group photo of the Ladies? Jerry
Yes Jerry, the three hens on the right of the photo, Miss MoneyPenny is the one looking away from the camera. She isn't shy, just has an attitude! Theodoros, thank you for the kind words.
I love your farm. It's beautiful country. I've been looking at my map and one of these days we will come and see it in person. We just never seem to have time to do all the things we want to do. Retired? What's that? dooley
