Very green, grows quickly, outward, "jagged" leave Hi everyone! I'm new. My daughter grew this plant for me at her preschool and gave it to me for Mother's Day. It's the first plant I've successfully *not* killed. However... it's getting bigger, and neither of us know what it is. She is out of preschool for the summer and as with most 3 year olds (and even some adults! lol) can't remember what it is supposed to be - if it's supposed to bloom or what. So, I ask of all of you, what do you think it is? Close-up of the leaves. The leaves are about 1/2" to 2" wide. The plant has spread outwards, too, not just up. Any ideas?
Not sure what it is but teachers usually have the kids grow beans, marigolds or daisies as a classroom activity but that doesn't look like one of those. I know I should know what it is but just can't place it. It's getting leggy from lack of sun, I would put it either in a larger pot or in the ground in a sunny location and wait to see what blooms, IDing it will be easier then.
My first thought was Balsam, but it could be a Dahlia as chocolate suggested. I agree with Toni too, it needs more light.
I'll try repotting it (fingers crossed lol) and putting it on my balcony. A dahlia! That's interesting.
