The leaf is our Hosta "Spilt Milk". :D I've been trying to get good leaf photos to put quotes on, and I felt this one turned out rather well.

Here's another one I like. The quote's attributed to Winston Churchill but I think he nicked it from an ancient Greek:

What a nice posting. I like it that you used your own subjects. I like reading "wise sayings". I liked the one that you made with Gabriella.--Lovely words and a very lovely girl.

BTW--how is it going with the Empress Wu? Is she getting any taller?

Thanks Sjoerd. :stew1: Gabriella is a lovely girl, but that tummy of hers looks like a barrel three days after we've put her on grass. :D

The Empress is well and getting fat but she's not gaining height. We have to look at the soil I think.

Ah, Droopy, I though you were getting a new baby soon, looking at that barrel :-D. She must be hard to ride right now, unless you are very limber.

I'm having the same issue with mine Droopy. She came up and got a bit of frost, then the tips seemed to take forever to open. She has new leaves now, but they are a different shape and don't have the height that I would hope for.

Not to argue with Cicero, but in addition to a library and a garden, a person needs a kitchen to be entirely complete!

Haha, Carolyn, she's a child-size pony so I don't ride her myself. It's actually not as bad as it looks, but a small child will sit with legs sticking straight out! :D

Netty, we know she suffered frost damage, poor girl, since we also had a late frost. :( I wonder if our Empress also is planted in a too dry place, and we might not have fed her properly. My friend's Empress is twice the height and the leaves are wonderful in size.

mg, not in my case. I dislike cooking. :D I guess Cicero had people cooking for him so that never crossed his mind. I also need my family and friends around me, something Cicero either didn't need or took for granted. :D

Great way to show off your favorite quotes.

I'm with you Droopy when it comes to cooking. I have a bag hanging in the kitchen that my oldest daughter gave me for my birthday with....."I only have a kitchen because it came with the house" on it. ;)

Droopy and Toni, you two are a cook's dream! Nice people who will absorb all the extras falling out of the oven and stove. The world needs more people like you, especially around here where everyone is a great cook and practices their craft daily.

Hey Droopy, what are the postal restrictions on sending food into Norway? You might be able to be the recipient of some really tasty care packages.

Oh, toni, that bag would have suited me to a T, but since I'm not allowed in the kitchen it's kind of wasted on me. :D

Sorry to report that customs restrictions are very strict, and care packages are a thing of the past unfortunately. :( I would have loved to be a guinea pig for somebody's recipe tests.

mg, please move to Norway and be my neighbour! I've got a very nice neighbour who loves to cook but who's family is so ... ehm... particular about what they eat that most of her test cooking ends up in my tummy. :D She makes the most delicious focaccia. :D

Hey, toni, maybe we could make a living out of travelling the globe and test restaurant dishes? If we're good at it we might get very well paid. :D
