It poured at my office today which is about an hour away from home. I was hoping the rains made it this way. And they did. There was one inch in the rain gauge. And it's been raining for the last two hours. A good soaking rain. Since it slowed down a bit right now, I went to check the rain gauge again. ANOTHER inch of the wet stuff!
Here's the view from the front porch.

    And from the back steps.

And this is my favorite... rain barrel overflowing while that water hose just lays there!

Ahhhh... it smells so fresh and the birds are merrily chirping and the frogs are croaking.

All right! We've been getting those pop-up thunderstorms all week and I love it. But wouldn't you know that today we didn't and I put out pre-emergent herbicide that needs a good rain to activate it.

Hey! I remember that backdoor project. Looks like you got a long hose there. I use 200 ft. of hose for front and for back. I gave up on rolling them up after use.

I love rain after a hot day, the ground steams and everything smells good!

Oh, that looks sooooo refreshing. 2+ inches is great.

Something passed to our south a few blocks, the wind picked up and the temperature dropped 6 degrees but no rain.

Bliss.... Those pop-ups have been every where but here lately... except for the last couple of days.
And yep... my back door project is working great. The water drains off right where it's supposed to, and I no longer have to tromp through standing water and/or mud.
Not sure how long hat water hose is, but it will reach to that area where the wooden fence is. And the only time it gets rolled up is when I need to move it so I can mow.

Cris... luckily it hasn't been too hot the last couple of days because of the cloud cover and little rain showers. But supposedly, we'll be right back at the 100F range and dry in just a couple of days.

Toni.. "refreshing" is the perfect word. Nothing like hearing all of the plants going "ahhhhhhhhh".
Now... if only those darn frogs and crickets would shut up! LOL

I would much rather hear the frogs and crickets than the Cicadas that have been chirping since early May. They just scream summer heat and dry.
Makes you wonder what's going to happen when the Dog Days of Summer arrive, these are Dog Day Cicadas and aren't supposed to be making an appearance until late July through early Sept.

Congratulations on getting some rain! There's nothing like a rain shower to freshen things up after a dry spell. :stew2:

Toni, you don't think those cicadas are making an appearance now because you'll have a wet autumn? One might hope you know. :D

Toni... you're right Cicadas... not crickets.

    Thanks everyone!
