I am retired which gives me plenty of time to work in my garden and on my koi pond. I have two rescue kitties, Flower and Cleopatra who follow me about the yard and a feral, Big Red, who is also usually in attendance. I have raised bed gardens now due to health conditions and just love them. My husband helps some now with the heavier lifting but at heart he's still a golfer.
Hi Claysmom, welcome to GardenStew from north Texas. Isn't nice to have a hubby who will stay out of the way but still willing to lift and carry stuff around the garden. Glad to be here I've quickly scanned thru some of the photos and feel right at home. I was bedridden for several years due to a nerve disease that attacked my spine and my yard went to "heck". It was only last year I was able to begin supervising it's restoration and this year it looks grand. Everything, well, almost everything is back to it's full glory. It's so sad to lie in bed looking out the window as your yard deteriorates but with my husband working, tending to the house and me, that left little time for him to do much else. Plus I really didn't want him around my plants as he doesn't really know a plant from a weed, as I have sorrowfully learned from experience. But thank the good Lord, I'm back on my feet and with the help of a yardman, my yard is looking good again. Now if I can just get this Wisteria killed that is sprouting up everywhere. I've tried everything but an atomic bomb.

Claysmom so happy that you are on the mend, and that you found this great gardening community. With helpful and friendly folks just an email away. You might try spraying your wisteria invaders with vinegar. It is wonderful for killing weeds and such that you want to get rid of. I even used it on burdock and it killed it. Just be careful you don't spray other stuff as it will kill that also. Looking forward to seeing pic's of your kitties and gardens.
