After the horrible Summer we have had, being hot and dry, we have been surprised to get 2 five gallon buckets overflowing every other evening. That makes me happy and keeps me working on the inbetween day. Barb in Pa.
Gosh my mind is buzzing with recipes now that I've seen all you produce. I could spend a week or more cooking with all that lovely veg. :-D
All those tomatoes that you see plus what you can't see in the pictures made 5 quarts of very very thick sauce with no spices. Hubby guessed that it was about 40 pounds worth. This is the first time I am not water bathing them. I decided to pressure can then to see how they will be. I must admit there is not as much mess with it rather than all the water boiling for the water bath. Barb in Pa.
Absolutely gorgeous!! I am really missing all the garden fresh goodies this year, I've got only 2 big pots, 'maters and sweet bell peppers. And my herbs.
I have 2 gardens. One is 30x50 and the other is 20x30. I know many Stewers here have very very large gardens but these 2 are big enough for me.' Next year one whole garden will be corn and we will plant no bell peckers next year. We put in 100 plants this year and they are producing like crazy. Barb in Pa.
Lots of fresh goodies!! It's like the produce aisle of the grocery store but a lot friendlier. Canning too!! .........I wonder why they don't call it jarring? Most of the produce ends up in a jar. Jerry
Home canning used to be done in actual cans. I had a great aunt that would always say "we jarred-up the tomatoes" after she got rid of her canning(real cans) get-up.
