Hello all, can someone help me to indentify this plant that I have growing in my front yard? I think it may be some type of small melon. It is a little spikey to the touch. I also wonder if the fruits are edible. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please send info to my mailbox also. Looks like a variety of summer squash. Summer squash leaves come in 3 to 5 lobes and grow in a bushy compact configuration as opposed to winter squash that grow on rambling vines. However, I don't grow squash. Unless I know what it is I don't eat it. Most of my vegetables come from aisle 21 of the grocery store. Tomatoes this year came from plants grown for the tomato contest. The grocery store does not have anything to worry about. Were the flowers yellow-orange trumpet kind? That would be typical of squash. Jerry
The flowers were a trumpet type. They are quite large. I think that they may be edible but I want to know for sure. Are summer squash good to eat? Please advise, thanks.
