Here's a few more photos I took in the garden over the weekend. Celosia with Begonias ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden ) Those Celosias just popped up there, some seeds must have fallen from the hanging pot I had above it last year. Kinda looks neat! :-D Esperanza ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden ) Finally the Esperanza is filling up with blooms like it's supposed to. I guess mine is just a late bloomer. And now for some Hibiscus. I just love the little green edging. What pretty blooms. Maybe next year I will have some too My Esperanza is just now beginning to bloom too, but the city of Farmers Branch uses them in the medians along a couple of streets and those have been blooming since late June. I am pretty sure doesn't get enough sun.
More? Wow! Are you sure it is not springtime in So. Liberty County, TX and you skipped over winter? I am definitely enjoying the September blooms. The Esperanza is my favorite. Jerry
Hi Cheryl, those Zinnias are very attractive they certainly appeal to everyone,..and i think my favorite is as Jerry said,..the Esperanza,..an abundance of lovely coloured blooms,..very attractive Supertunia,..the first i have seen with that nice added green edging,..it certainly adds to its bloom,..yes it looks like Spring in your garden,..oh great show of Hibuscus,..i think i might chance the snakes and reptiles to raid your garden,..not forgetting the Dragon.
Thanks Toni. I don't think mine is getting enough sun either. I should have planted it on the other side of the yard. But hey... who says I can't have one on each side? Thanks Jerry. I'll take Fall over Spring any time. Nothing against Spring and the beginning of another growing season... but I like having all of the mature plants blooming at the same time, like they are now. Thanks Philip. Isn't that Supertunia something else? I fell in love with the green edging. I'm wondering though if it will survive the winter, even protected from frost? If so, it'll get a bigger pot. Or maybe not, since it's doing so well right where it's at? And don't worry too much about "The Dragon". I think he's pretty much on the path of being tamed. And if all else fails... just talk "boats" with him or bring a bottle of rum. :-D
Oh my how I'd love to have so much colour in my garden at this time of year. Those hibiscus flowers are gorgeous and I love your Esperanza. :-D Zinnias are a firm favourite of mine and I think your Supertunia is breathtaking. :-D
Very attractive, I have never heard of or seen a supertunia...it is very interesting, I will be watching our nurseries over the next few weeks to see if it arrives here.We grow petunias as annuals becuse the heat doesnt do them much good, I dont do many 'flowers' but I could make an exception for a supertunia.
Very nice September blooms, Cheryl. Things just keep on blooming there, don't they. Tell me about the supertunia. It looks like it gets to be quite long. The colour is pretty. The zinnia's here have had it...but yours seem to still be doing quite well. All-in-all....A very nice posting, miss.
Thank you Eileen and Theodoros! Chocolate... I don't know very much about the Supertunia. Just found it one day and liked the green "edging" on the flowers. I'm going to protect it this winter and see how long I can keep it alive. Thanks Sjoerd... and yes... it is getting long. I didn't expect it to grow like that, but I'm happy it did! And there's a few more things still blooming here. Bottlebrush ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden ) The bottlebrush has been blooming off and on all summer... just a few here and there, not like it did in late spring. No complaints from me though. Crinum ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden ) And this was a surprise to see. I don't remember any of the Crinum blooming this late in the year. Again... no complaints. Hardy Hibiscus - Magenta ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden ) I had gotten a mix of Hardy Seeds from DonM... and this was the last color to bloom. Thanks DonM! My Moss Rose/Portulacas have been hanging in there all year too... I still have a few days in September. And I can think of a couple more things I can post here. Stay tuned.
That esperanza. There is a garden I pass by daily and it had this plant growing next to the mailbox. I thought it was ragweed. Then one day all these yellow blooms. Now I know what it is.

Cheryl,Flowers this late in the year are so special. For me anyway,any day can mean the end for this year. My zinnias got frosted a few days ago. Wish I'd covered them,as I could have enjoyed them for a few more days.Most of the cannas,elephant ears & coleus bit the dust. I love that Esperanza.Nice zinnias & moss roses & petunias.Very nice pictures ,all of them. This is the first year we didn't have any Heavenly Blue Morning Glories.They grew tall but never did get blooms.??? sewNsow
