Oh my those are absolutely stunning!! The Triple Deck, Samoyed Rescue quilt and the Frut tablecloth are gorgeous and my personal favourites. You have a very special talent Kiasmum. How long does it take to make one of your beautiful works of art?
Those are DROP DEAD GORGEOUS!!!! I haven't even looked at fabric in almost 10 years, the colors certainly have gotten brighter than I remember ever seeing. Fantastic job of putting them together. I really like the Rainbow Lily. When selling my books and fabrics I realized that my style is what was called Primitive...subdued colors with an old fashioned look. I did have some dark purple and bright green fabrics that I had intended to make a quilt from but that was the brightest I got My first quilt was a king sized, Dresden Plate in reds and yellow old fashioned looking prints for my parents. At that time there was a Lap Quilting program on our PBS station, the quilter was Georgia Bonesteel, she quilted the blocks separately then sewed them all together into the quilt. Wrong choice for a first one, I almost didn't do any more quilting after that. I'll have to scan a photo of it to post. I used a #12 quilting needle, it's less than an inch long, but that helped me get the smallest stitches. Most of my quilting was done on a hoop in my lap. But the large Ranger, Texas quilt was done on a floor frame. While quilting the Texas Wildflowers wall hanging I wore magnifiers called MagEye. The stitches I saw looked large but without the magnifier they were actually very tiny.
Each time I looked at one I claimed it as my favorite... then the next was my favorite... and the next... Fantastic and beautiful work.
This is a lot of work...inside work, too. I guess I just don't have the attention span to sit this long and work at it.
Thank you all for your lovely comments Eileen, I can't honestly say how long they take.Cutting the fabric is probably the most intense part so I usually do it a bit at a time over a few days.Mistakes are easy to make if you're tired.Same with putting the pieces together into the blocks-one wrong piece can lead to a lot of muttering Toni,Thank you.I'm always drawn to the brightest fabrics-they seem so much happier than the muted tones. As I was quite new at the time Rainbow Lily was bought as a kit-all I had to do was cut, piece and follow the instructions and provide the backing. Please find the shot of your first quilt. I have a small hand frame but I might have to ask Santa for a larger on this year.Because I have back issues I send the larger quilts away to be longarm quilted to my specifications. So far Karen has done a fine job for me. Cherylad, thank you. Carolyn, having a dodgy climate is quite conducive to sitting indoors and I am still amazed at just how quickly time flies by when I'm doing any part of a project. cuatro-gatos,thank you. waretrop, thank you. Pianolady,Thank you.I have to say it is my favourite too and one I am most proud of (so far). Frank,Thank you. stratsmom, thank you. Its a pity you didn't get on with it.I'm not the world's most patient person with some things but with this I can be-i suppose its not wanting to waste such beautiful fabrics.
