See, Ive always thought fake flowers looked, well, fake. But Ive actually come to kinda sorta like the ones we sell at Garden Ridge (my day job). A few days before the spring/summer flowers were dumped (such a waste, but if corporate says to trash em, we gotta do it!), I got some of these: ( photo / image / picture from TheBip's Garden ) They were the last ones too (Theyre more purple than in the pic) And I got this cute tin to put em in: ( photo / image / picture from TheBip's Garden ) But now that the seasons are changing, I decided to get some autumn-y flowers for it: ( photo / image / picture from TheBip's Garden ) The "berry" sprays were actually from the christmas section, but they just looked so right with my little bouquet BJ approves =^.^= ( photo / image / picture from TheBip's Garden ) Cant wait to get christmas-y flowers/foliage/whatever
I'm with you about fake flowers. But...some of them are darn neat! I decided that was the only way I was ever going to get Gerbers!!! I've actually got a few bouquets and really like them. Some are more realistic than others.
The flowers do make for a colorful display anytime you want color. Before the spring color comes out my wife puts out the fake hanging baskets. But I still like the real stuff when it arrives. Jerry
My mom had fake flowers in some of corners.... they are still there. Kinda brightens up those dark spots. I think I'd rather have a few fake flowers indoors than cutting one's from the garden to bring inside. I like your arrangements... and tin is darn cute.
Cute, cute, but I still won't have any in my apartment. I keep complaining about lack of space for my oh too many pots... Anyway, I think, for a passionate gardener (like myself) to have plastics, would be like a SIN.
Calin--I have always felt that way too, but I have an office mate who brings silk flowers in during late winter. I hate to admit it, but they are pretty.
The tin is adorable and you arrangements are beautiful, I really like the Autumn-y one. I have some silk flowers in a corner of the bathroom, they do have more of a realistic look to them than plastic. My mom always had a large arrangement of fake white daisies in front the fireplace, they very seldom used the fireplace so the flowers were there year round.
Nice show of colour,..and BJ finds them attractive,..but that tin is a good addition,..well done Jen.
With good quality silk flowers mixed with real flowers and greens I've found you really can't tell which is real and which is fake. It's too funny when people think real ivy or orchid blossoms are the fakes. The real ones give a scent like nature though.
I have bought some better silk flowers and added with containers that needed some help. And had people they looked real good. Get good when I tell the truth. I put some in area to see how that color would look there.
It is a colorful arrangement, fake or not. I've seen many that you have to touch to tell the difference.I have some fake vining ones for a couple dark corners. Heck, with a little dust & on top of the file cabinet & on a high shelf no one's the wiser. sewNsow
I was duped once Back in 1985 or so I was duped at a hanging basket of yellow flowers that were fake. They looked real from the car. But I was wrong. A good display can turn the truth around easily. Still, I like the real stuff.
