    Hello!

I'm living in Mid-Michigan, and am looking forward to my first winter in my house. All summer my husband and I have been clearing trees to make a spot for our garden for next year. Every garden I've ever tried to have wasn't all that great, so I'm looking forward to listening and learning here!

What a lovely welcome, thank you! I don't have many photos to share, as our garden-to-be is a lumpy mess of roots and sand. We've a dozen or so chickens that we are really enjoying, and a duck that is in the process of incubating a bunch of chicken eggs (should be interesting when they hatch!).

I am an amphibian biologist, and did my graduate work studying the effects of chemicals on frog populations. Mostly native North American species. I was blessed enough last year to land a job for a chemical company, working in product safety (making sure their chemicals are safe for the environment) and moved back to Michigan where I grew up. I've got two kids (5 and 6) and a chicken-herding cat named Charley. :)

Good to know there are some northerers here. Does anyone cold frame? It's something I'm interested in.

Hi Frogdoc---Welcome to the Stew! Hope you enjoy it here. My family have always been frog people. Where we live now, we have at least 5 different kinds of frogs hopping about our place at different times of the growing season.
Oh, and we have toads too. Do you consider them frogs?
