    The hippieastrums are flowering well in the hot weather we are having now,I thought some might like to see some of the best ones I have.I grow them in pots, outside all year.In a pot I can show them off and bring them inside for awhile, they last well and are good value for decoration.

    Good show, Chocolate;
    you're coming on line now to help feed us in the northern hemisphere with beautiful flowers while we wait out the winter.. I'm sure I speak for many of us when I say 'we greatly appreciate that you post pictures of your lovely blossoms and plants.'

    You've certainly managed to cheer up this lady Chocolate. Keep those photographs coming as it will help us all get through the short, dark days of winter.

    How wonderful to be able to have these as garden plants.They're all so beautiful but I think that Apple Blossom is outstanding.

    How long did it take to get from seed to flower?

    Kiasmum,they can take up to 4yrs to flower from seed.A new plant grows up in about 6mths but has to be large enough[bulb] to flower

    The seeds are just little black wispy, light flakes...hardly look like any sort of seed.I prefer to get a bulb from a mature plant and they will flower within the year if the bulb is large enough....dont like waiting.I did this one just to see if it works, it does but takes too long.

    Thank you for that. I don't think I could wait all that time either.

    This is a very nice selection that you are showing today. It will be time to get a couple of those bulbs to set on the windowsill here in a couple of months.
