I wasn't sure to put this under "woodworking" or "junk". But here's my Donkey-Cart plant holder that hubby made. Donkey Cart ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden )
He is lovely[both donkey and husband],only one thing I can see wrong.....not enough plants in the cart!
You've put it in just the right forum Cheryl as it's a really neat bit of woodwork. I wish my husband could turn out super things like that for my garden. I think Chocolate is right though - you need at least another three plants for the cart.
I agree, correct forum Cheryl. Where's he off to? Be careful that he's not stealing them. I like it a lot!
Chocolate... Hubby was bored one day. I think he did considering this was wood from the scrap pile. Eileen... I agree... more plants... but I think I ought to wait until Spring. Right? Frank... I think he's making a delivery. :-D Barb... I think the donkey could use a little more detail... like a harness... but that's just me being too sensible. Thanks everyone! I'll pass along your kind words to the hubby.
Very nice work, it would look good in MY yard! The little statue in the background looks so real, it looks like it is standing in the land of the giants.
cherylad, Now I have studied and studied this picture and I have decided that something needs to be done here. See that little lady to the right of the stump? Well, my hubby and I decided that she is an indian after enlarging her and really straining to look. She needs to hitch a ride on the back on that donkey. And just think I got my hubby involved with all of this...
That "lady" is Pocahontas. And off to the left is John Wayne. Behind him is an old skull from one of hubby's friends. Next to it behind the tree stump is a giant plaster cowboy boot. Out of the picture to the left is Mustang Sally... I an old kid's toy horse. Behind the sega palm, hubby made a wood box for some aloes that says "US Calvary". (I know I have photos of it, will have to find it) This spot is a memorial to a friend of our's who was a "cowboy's cowboy"... anything "western" goes here in his honor... and because nothing is to scale, it's just that much more fun.
I have been giving more thought to your donkey and I was thinking that he needs a brightly coloured mat on his back with a nice fringe on it.....maybe some sparkly beads or mirrors so that he sparkles in the sun, I hear thats what all the donkeys are wearing this year. We are all going a little over with your little one. Is it a boy or girl anyway? Girl donkeys like to wear straw hats with flowers all around...if you are going to keep a donkey, 8) you need to keep up to date I reckon.
That's too funny Chocolate! But I can't see myself doing a lot of decorating on it, but I bet I can find some cloth for a mat.
Love this little western spot in your garden, what a wonderful tribute to your friend and good memories for you.
