Glad we have gas heater no fan. Lights went out last night. 26,000 people in Des Moines no power. So far only got 5 inches of very wet heavy snow. Lot of places double that and got more coming this way. but got generator ready. make big pot of coffee and put in thermos.
Keep warm, and keep safe! Heavy snow is the worst to move, so just wait until it melts (sometime in April?).
Koszta,Thunder & lightening here too.Thundersnow! We haven't got the inches like in Cedar Rapids but I suspect a lot of ice out there.Wind is sure blowing.HBs Christmas lunch is today.I doubt we will make it.Plenty of wood brought into entryway. The way wind is whipping icy lines I wouldn't be surprised if power goes.Course now temps can plunge with snow cover.Haven't got roses mounded with soil yet. sNs
I'm getting on snow suit. And knock some of the snow of trees.limbs hanging way down. Glad we had the 3 trees taken down around power lines
Glad when I bought our snow blower got biggest they make.DH sprayed blades with W-D-40 so snow don't stick. We all took turns shoveling-snow ball type snow. Should go make a snow man
Yup we are getting socked with wet heavy snow also. No thunder snow as yet. I think that it is really weird when it does that. We are suppose to get heaver snow fall around noon or so. Did shovel off the small patch of cement in from of garage. Hubby took off work today and tomorrow. Good thing. It is no fun trying to drive around in the country and deliver the mail when the weather is like this. You know the old motto. Neither rain, or sleet, or dark of night. Ya, right. They forget to mention snow that can be up to the bumper of your car and drifts higher than that. But according to the Post office you have to come in to work and try and deliver the mail. If you can't get threw then you can come back to the office and call it quits for the day. But then you have to try and get home from there. It would be nice if they had snow days like so many places have. Oh well. We are staying in and are going to watch some Christmas movies and I will be baking a few cookies as well. Tomorrow will be snow blower day. With more shoveling to come. Tree can be a real problem if they are near power lines. So glad ours are back far enough. Stay safe and warm everyone.
I was watching your weather and just knew you were going to get clobbered. My Quad Cities family haven't got it yet but I am sure soon they well...... Stay warm and don't venture out unless you really have to.
I will be glad when winds quit. They closed #80 at 220 mile marker. Many Years ago use to work at truck Stop there.2 semi crashed. Most counties towing ban-unless blocking the road.
