Please can someone name this tree for me? It grows wild in Queensland, Australia and produces brilliant red flowers in November/December - see photos. Good morning from Australia. The tree is a ponciana/delonix regia. They are flowering here right now, they are actually a native to Madagasgar. The parrots love them, they must have lovely nectar. The tree is used extensively here for street plantings..in fact there is one outside our gate on the nature strip. PS Where do you live? The photos could be in Australia?
Hi Sunrise, I have not seen these trees for years, we used to have it in our school compound and usually in the begining of the year when the new school year starts, these are all red with flowers. Here we calll it "Flame of the Forest".
Thanks for the answer Thank you for your prompt reply. I live in England but was on tour round Australia and when I visited Cairns They were a blaze of colour all over the hillside - a marvellous sight. I will now close this topic.
