I don't know what this is and it seems to be something that the plant has. I have 2 of these plants right next to each other but only 1 of them has gotten this disease. Last time it got so bad I chopped it completely down and let it grow back hoping it would kill it all off. Now, it is all full grown again and it is back. Can someone tell me how to get rid of it? I don't know what to do. Scale and a bad case of it. The usual cure is to throw the plant away. Male scale in its crawling stage can crawl around seeking females who can not walk. Later they attach themselves to the plant where they remain for the rest of their lives sucking on the juices of the plant. If the infestation is minor washing the plant with alcohol can remove the stationary scale. There are insecticides to address the crawlers but you still have to deal with the eggs which may not be entirely removed as the stationary scale are removed. With a bad case it ends up to be a vicious circle. It depends on what you want to do. DO NOT put an infested plant near a healthy plant. Good luck Jerry
Could I just cut it all the way down to the main part of the plant and let it regrow and watch it more closely this time?
Highly not recommended. You run the risk of infecting other plants. Try if you must, it is something you will have to constantly monitor. Keep it away from all plants. Jerry
