Unusually for us,we had over 4" of snow on one day, followed by an inch the next day. I felt so sorry for the garden birds, but they got through so much food there was no chance of them starving on my watch. Ground floor view of the front garden. Your garden looks just like mine at the moment Karin. Isn't fresh snow sooo pretty to look at? I know what you mean about the birds as mine are eating me out of house and home while the white stuff is around. Our Sparrowhawk managed to catch a Siskin off guard and now all that's left is a circle of feathers on top of the snow. Sadly the House Sparrow population around here has dwindled to almost nothing. I used to be inundated by them and now I wish I could have them visiting the feeders again.
Our snow has all gone now but it was very very pretty to start with. Aww,poor siskin. We have a growing population of sparrows after a couple of years when there were hardly any. When I did the RSPB bird count yesterday we had 20plus of them around my feeders. Its the starlings who are in decline around here at the moment :-(. Thank you Cheryl.
Kiasmum: Your garden is beautiful, all covered in white. I love the look of your shrubbery in the garden, a variety of shapes, textures & sizes. Cayuga PS: I grew up with Samoyeds. My brother has one now. They usually have great personalities.
Love your pics of the snowy landscape and your birds. It's good to have the snowy white blanket. Looks like the doggies are ready for a romp! I would be real nervous if I had that Hawk sitting in my backyard, watching and waiting for the next meal...
Thank you Cayuga. When I had the front garden redone shapes and textures was high on the list of requirements-along with lavender :-D Discovering Samoyeds has been one of the great joys of my life and these two have personality to spare. Thank you Toni.I'll swap you some snow (when we have some more) if I can have some of your sunshine please. Blissful,I think the phrase in reply is "Over my dead body" They are (apart from my Husband obviously) the loves of my life.
Sammys are wonderful dogs. My family first discovered them in the 60's when an aunt went to Alaska, They came home with a Samoyed puppy that captured all our hearts!
