How long has it been growing in your sink? What kind of melon?

Was it in the kitchen sink or outdoors? Many melon seeds look very similar to cucumber, squash, etc. Could it have been left from something you prepared for dinner some night?
If outside it could have been left for you by a bird.

You probably should put it in a pot alone until you ID it. If you wait too long it could disturb the bulb trying to dig it up to transplant.
