I picked up two of these bulbs on the 37 mile long garage sale we went to last fall and today three of the blooms are beginning to open. One plant has 3 buds, the other one has 2.
The colors in the Fall section of the bloom is a light to dark purple with some blue highlights.
I'll take more photos as they open further but I was so excited to see them bloom that I had to post these now. And hopefully the color will be truer to reality as it opens up more, cause it's really not that blue.

I have a while yet before my iris decide it's time to flower for me. Until then I can drool over your little beauty Toni. I'd swap our snow for your lovely iris any day.

Dear, oh dear, oh dear....isn't that a lovely thing. I really do like that tint of blue.
I am sitting here looking at the foto of your iris and then glancing over the top of the screen of my laptop, I see that it is spitting snow outside. I do not care, in a few minutes I shall be planting the broad beans. I'll show that weather!

Lovely colored Iris. I noticed yesterday that my Iris are finally making buds. They sure seem late this year.

And it smells almost as wonderful as the 'popsicle ladies' out in the back garden.
And it is NOT as blue as the photo shows, I am having a difficult time getting the purple to come to the forefront.

Toni, that is a magnificent iris, and scented, too! I envy you. When we moved I had to leave my iris behind, and haven't replaced them yet. I need to get with it and start hunting down some rhizomes (but I don't think I'll travel a 37 mile long yard sale to find them!).
