Lovely orchids. I have never tried orchids. Have you had them long? How long do they bloom? Do you have to mist them often? Recently I was at a nursery and was greeted at the entrance with a lot of orchids on display. This week another nursery had orchids 40% off. Tempting.

Our temperatures flucuate so much that it's hard to keep orchids alive here worst luck. I love the yellow one too and wish I could stop murdering the ones I get. :-|

Yes I agree that those are very beautiful. But my house temp's are kept pretty low. So I do not think they would like to live with me. :stew1:

    Thanks for compliments.
Jerry,These particular type orchids,Phalaenopsis, are very easy, once you get the watering to suit them.THey like to be watered well & then let get almost dry before watering again.I'm getting to the point where I have too many & it is a chore to water.I have them all in clear pots & I can see if there are moisture beads in there.I made a mistake & put some in too large pots & they stayed wet too long & roots rotted.Oh,I've killed a few LOL.I probably have some that I've had for 10 years. What I like about this type is that they start blooming in late Dec..I've had some bloom for 5 months.
Another big plus is they don't as a rule get insect pests. And they don't require bright sunlight to bloom. An east or west window will need a thin curtain when it starts getting warmer out.
As far as temperatures go,60 at night is good & up to 80 in the daytime.Low temps,55-60 at night in the fall initiates bloom scapes.I have a small ultrasonic humidifier near the orchids. We heat with a woodstove & the air is dry.We have fluctuating temps at times, too. It is said that temperatures that most people feel comfortable in will suit your orchids.
I highly recommend Phalaenopsis orchids!Get 1 or 2 & pay attention to watering & you will be hooked!

    They're beautiful :D

Mine seem to do well on neglect as I'm not that good at remembering to water them but it isn't often that I don't have at least one in flower(and I've only got 5)

KK My cat has knocked over some.I just make sure there is a space for her at the window & she actually is very good.I don't have any other houseplants.Orchids, these kind, anyway, don't need a lot of sun. East & west is fine. And they can be back from the glass. Just bright light works or indirect sun. They like about the same exposure as African Violets.I find them easier than A Violets, but that's just me.

Doris I seen they had an Orchid Club at the Winter Garden Fair. Cindy also has many African Violets + many indoor plants.
