Hi Willie. #6 is an aloe. You can just divide those without any problems. I have some succulents that need tending too also, so I look forward to hearing what the others will say.
I'm also interested in any hints as to how to handle this type of problem... Might there be merit in prevention??? Hank
Photos 1,2,3,and 4 are easy to cut the tops off with enough stem to stick in the ground. Let them dry at the cut and stick in a pot of succulent mix. Wait a few days before watering, then treat like you did the adult plants. I just gave mine the treatment. For some reason these always stretch out for me over the winter, guessing because of the shortened days (light). Repotting this time of year they take right off and with fresh soil they are big in no time. Plus you still have the parent plant that will send up shoots like in photo 2. They certainly are a pretty succulent. Photo 6 is an aloe that likes being pot bound and multiples rapidly. You can divide if you want more or leave it. Photo 7 looks like they didn't get enough sun.
thank you Jewell just choped off their heads so i will wait 2-3 days b4 i replant i was thinking like you about seeing if that parent plant with the little babies will take off since i cut off the majority of it now that last plant #7 you thought it wasnt getting enough sun i cant see how this is in my sun roomit gets full sun 3/4 of the day the room has 7 pcs across the bottom 4x7 then above thatis another set of 7 windows 4x7 which is on a slanted roof do you think maybe its not getting enough water or too much sun?
nothing much can go wrong with succulents. don't be afraid to chop them off. when it looks messy like that, to me its time to chop and breed some more children let the cut heal & dry off for a few days. or just simply let it dry until some roots appear, then it's time to plant it. you'll get healthy succulents. don't forget to give some fertilizer and water em. hope it's okay to share a picture with you guys those tall ones need staking ( photo / image / picture from Djardin's Garden )
Oh drats... I cut some of mine yesterday and forgot about letting it heal. Should I dig them out of their new homes?
don't worry cherylad, I don't think it's a big deal. the only reason in letting it heal is to prevent it from getting disease & rot. so don't water the soil just yet. wait for few days before you water them.
Well... since it rained, it did get water. I'll just leave it alone and see what it does. No biggy if it dies... there's plenty more and I'll make certain to do it right whenever I take another cutting.
