Cheryl, your green thumb extends all the way to your shoulder! I think you'll find that the gaura is attractive to pollinators, and that the Hinkley will self-seed and spread in a restrained manner. Your flower beds are so lovely--thank you for sharing with those of us who don't have your way with flowers!
Very pretty! Seeing your photos gives me something to look forward to. We're so late this year, or at least it feels that way. Daffodils are just starting to bloom.

Toni... I think my Columbine is getting a bit too much sun. Your leaves look so much greener and healthier than mine. Hopefully when the Texas Star gets bigger and blocks out some more of the sun, it'll do better.
Awww, you've got lots of nice colour. I like the bottlebrush bloom a lot, it's so different from what we're growing here.

Hi Cheryl,..lovely flower on that Society Garlic,..that Bottlebrush Plant is a sure winner,..i was thinking of Bottlebrush Plant today as someone gave me bulbs for "Liatris spicata" and the flower reminded me of it,..now that i see yours they were only similar in my mind. Nice Columbine as well,..mine are nearly ready to bloom,..weather permitting of course,..its raining all day,..badly needed.
Thank you Sjoerd. Yes... I am very lucky indeed (and I remind myself of this everyday) to have a place where I can have my flower gardens. And I'm also lucky that some of the plants like it here! Deanna... A co-worker gave me some of the Society Garlic last year. I sure was happy to see their blooms stand up and wave to me. Philip... I looked up yoru Latris... and I can see how it would be called a Bottlebrush also. Very pretty. My Bottlebrush is actually a tree (Callistemon rigidus). I intend to keep it trimmed down to about 5-6 foot. My brother had one that grew as tall as his house! I think the Columbine is getting too much sun. I went back to the shop where I found it today, and they didn't have anymore. So I think I'll dig this one up and put it a container so I can put it in a shadier spot. Hope it makes it because the flower is so darn cute!
Hi Cheryl,..i agree about shifting the Columbine,..mine thrived when i planted them under rose bushes so they then had a sort of woodland shade for parts of the day,..i hope your "Columbine Hinckley" thrives and you manage to collect some seeds.
