I have a new plant and the leaves started to whither and dye.. I can not find the name of this plant on the computer... I have looked at many pictures and was unable to find it... CAN SOMEBODY HELP ME? The plant has very large leaves that comes out of one flat stalk, the stem of the leaves are very long. There are not many stems that come out and the ones that do hang on the side. the plant is very tall. The leaves are not feathered, but flat and the leaves feel waxy and fake... can anyone help me with this... thanks
Hi, welcome to the Stew. When you get a chance, please post an intro of yourself in the Welcome to GardenStew forum so we can all get to know each other. We really need to see pictures before being able to give you an ID on your plant. If you can, take a good one of the leaves and one of the total plant. I have moved this topic to the Plant ID forum. More people will see it there and that could provide a quicker answer to your search.
Hi sha4966 I'm afraid we really do need a bit more info, best achieved by a photo, if we are to identify this plant.
I have, what looks like, the same plant with the same issue. I am plant sitting for the summer and his plant went from looking great to this. Mine isn't in as bad of shape. I am thinking it may be getting too much sun. I believe it is a shade plant. Have you been misting the leaves? I haven't been as diligent as I should with this task.
It could indeed be a Strelitzia. FL is Florida right? If I am right, this plant would do well outside in the garden, if you've got one. But anyway, I'd say that pot is too small and probably the soil is too wet and the atmosphere around (if kept inside) too dry.
