I wish them to be mine, but no. I randomly found them on the Internet, but might give it a try. It surely looks complicated to make one, but the idea is awesome.
Pol... those are awesome looking. I wouldn't know where to start to make one. Let us know if you give it a try. And speaking of miniature chairs.... Hubby made this one a couple years ago from a wine or champagne bottle. It has no use, just sits on a shelf. mini chair ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden )
I think I found a small guide to make one of these cute gardens. It surely looks sophisticated to me. Anyway, if I give it someday, will brag about it for sure http://miniatures.about.com/od/livingmi ... nt-Pot.htm
Pol, that looks more complicated to me, but each person would look at any of these methods and think some look "easy" and some look "hard." Also, I don't have any clay pots that big, broken or otherwise, but scrap wood is easily obtained. Cheryl, that chair is the cutest thing!! Here's the box for DH's Mom. I liked the quilting thing so much, I decided to do that to hers too instead of sand. Now to coat with poly and FINALLY add plants soon! It's getting really tedious trying to keep 100 tiny pots of succulents watered, but not OVERwatered. And it keeps raining so I run out there and move them so they don't get too wet, then back into the sun. Agh! Box for mini garden ( photo / image / picture from purpleinopp's Garden )
Awww, thanks!! The wood and fabric scraps were free, so I'm only out a bottle of Elmer's glue, a few hours, and some leaning-up-too-long back pain if the poly doesn't live up to expectations. I found a blog about a lady decopaging a table the other day, doing the same thing I'm doing! Decopage refers to paper, but I'm not sure if the same word applies when using fabric. Felt a lot more confident after seeing/reading this: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/nichole ... upa-154338 I've had so much fun doing it, and like the look so much, I've already got plans to do this to a few other wood tables around here, assuming I like the results after poly-ing the existing stuff.
Here's the other "quilted" box, it's taller than the first. Also added a flower to the front of the first. mini planter boxes, "quilted" ( photo / image / picture from purpleinopp's Garden )
My Terrarium is really in its infancy,..i find it hard to acquire miniature or dwarf plants,..only last week i managed to find a small fern so there is plenty of room for improvement. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden )
Henry, AFAIK, what I'm doing would be called decopage. The flower is a 2nd layer. The weather hasn't been cooperating with my schedule, (huge shock, huh?) Hopefully will get started on the polyurethane tomorrow. Philip, that's cute! Exactly the opposite of the dry-desert thing I'm going to do, but I love it!
I like to put them all together in one flat flower pot, and then create a story. Love my mini garden!
AND I have a motorbike for when the car breaks down...... From ring pull bottle tops. ( photo / image / picture from chocolate's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from chocolate's Garden )
Not finished yet, but there's plants in there! Mini garden boxes ( photo / image / picture from purpleinopp's Garden )
OK, these are finished, ready to be gifts on Sunday: The blue one: ( photo / image / picture from purpleinopp's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from purpleinopp's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from purpleinopp's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from purpleinopp's Garden ) The yellow one: ( photo / image / picture from purpleinopp's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from purpleinopp's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from purpleinopp's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from purpleinopp's Garden ) First batch of tiny bricks, using Crayola air dry clay, which says it's fine to paint after it dries and hardens... Going to use these to make a patio, path, and little building for the mini garden I'm making for myself. ( photo / image / picture from purpleinopp's Garden )
Anyone that receives one of your miniature gardens is going to be delighted with it and put it in pride of place. You have a real eye for detail. :-D
