    Hi Cayuga Morning,..i don't know where they go to but they do return afterwards looking none the worse,..its mostly the Toms that go walk-about so perhaps that itself is an explanation lol,..i worry if after two weeks has passed and no sign,

    Awww,pretty kitties Philip.I like the term 'walkabout' too although I used to get paranoid in a couple of hours if mine weren't around :rolleyes: I miss having cats :(

    There is a children's book called "Six-Dinner Sid" which is probably another option for the missing toms,other than the obvious :-D

    My aunt & uncle had a cat named Barney Google. Actually, the whole neighborhood had him and the whole neighborhood fed him. He was a Maine Coon cat and the biggest cat I have ever seen.

    Hi Kiasmum,..some of mine have gone on walk-about for up to three weeks,..and its mostly the Toms and just two females,..one female i can keep up to date with as she hangs out on the kitchen window sill of a house some 100 yards from mine,..food is the attraction there.

    The second female i think has found a home away from home as when she returns its just for a day or two.

    "Six-Dinner-Sid",..what a name for a children's book lol.

    Hi Cayuga Morning,.."Barnie Google",..lol what a name,..though some of mine have weird names as well,..you mentioned "Barnie Google",..was big and a Maine Coon Cat,..well i had a cat he was a big Feral Tom,..fierce cat and very vocal as you will hear in the VERY short video below,..so turn up your sound.

    Video==="Wild Thing",..Big Feral Tom.

    Wow! He is something! I was afraid he was going to attack the camera. Are his ears always flat like that or is it because he's mad?

    No the ears were back when he is aggressive,..i can tell you i was a tad nervous as he could have attacked very quickly but i foolishly felt that as i was looking at him through the camera that i was safe lol,..it was three months later that he allowed me to stroke him as he was eating.

    Sadly he was given rat poison when i was away on holiday some time back,..all the cats died bar one "Plain" and she is still here,..however she had kittens before "Wild Thing" died and one was identical to him,..he "Ollie",.. lives with friends of mine,..since then there has always being one kitten born every so often and its identical to "Wild Thing".

    Hi Deanna,..it was my first time to see a Tomcat looking after the kittens,..all my females take turns looking after new kittens,..they never fight over who takes charge but the interesting thing is if two lots of kittens are born the mothers pool the kittens together and take turns feeding.

    I didn't know cats would do that. Makes sense. What a cool cat Wild Thing was. I am glad his genes live on.
