Hi everyone, I'm new here, and i have a problem with something i thought was just a very thick grass. It grows taller and faster than grass and has somewhat hollow blades. I have seen some people post similar pics and have come to the conclusion it is the Star of Bethlehem. The only thing is that i never noticed flowers with mine. i tried to pull them up myself but after 2 days working in a 2 yrd X 2 yrd spot i just gave up. There were so many bulbs i just couldn't keep up. Any help would be great. I've had years that my Star of Bethlehem didn't bloom. If they are crowded they may not bloom either.
First of all my disclaimer: I am very new to gardening and don't know much. OK, that said, I've lived in the south for a long time and the pictures you've posted look very much like what folks around here call wild onions. They even have an onion-y smell to them. They're considered weeds where I live and are an annoyance that are taken care of with weed killer.
Yeah, the star of Bethlehem was what some told me it might be. I was confused because they never flower, but your answer makes sense. They grow so close together in fact, that I thought it was a very thick grass. I haven't seen one weed killer that lists this on their bottle. Thanks for the help, I will just have to wait to see if the weed killer works.
