As some of you know, Norwegian children do their Confirmation the year they turn 15. It used to be a mandatory Protestant Church thing, but these days we've got other options too.

Anyways, my middle girl's big day was May the 4th. Friday 3d we had sleet, freezing cold rain, wind and whatnot so we were a bit excited about the Saturday weather. It was cold but dry, 3°C - 37°F. We were indoors for most of the day but still, everything's so much nicer when the weather's fair. :D

I thought I'd bore you with a few photos if you don't mind.

Family and guests. We're four guests short. Two couldn't make it and two went down with the 'flu. The photographer is our youngest daughter, the family monkey:

My girl had ordered a warm lunch buffet, and this is our table:

The colour theme was white, turqouise and navy. The florists dropped the navy ribbon, and I think she was right in doing so:

The main person needed to relax a little after the ceremony and before the lunch:

I didn't photograph the buffet table. I was too hungry. :p But I did photograph the cakes. This is a Pavlova tart:

One of the aunties thought this was a nice twist to the Charlotte Russe:

The big marzipan cake had raspberry filling:

We had two more big cakes and special rolled-up cookies that went with the cloudberry cream but people had already helped themselves to such a degree that I decided not to show them. :D

All in all we had a wonderful day.

On Tuesday the temps rose to 20°C or 68°F almost overnight and we're so busy with spring cleaning outside I barely have time to sleep. :D Spring's very late this year. Our winter lasted for six and a half months. *sigh*

Ok then, I'm back outside for another couple of hours before I call it a day. We've got daylight from 5 AM to 10 PM now so I could almost garden around the clock. Too bad I need to eat and sleep too.

Oh boy what great photographs Droopy!! I love the costumes and the colour scheme of the flowers - the florist was right to leave out the navy. The turquoise sets the white roses off to perfection. I have a bone to pick with you though. Why, when I'm hungry, do you post pictures of all those delicious looking cakes. ;) I'm so glad everyone enjoyed the day and give your daughter our congratulations on her confirmation.

I know you are glad that day is over, now to the garden for some relaxing weeding and planting and PHOTO taking.

What a wonderful, memorable day for the family! The cakes are lovely--I think I gained a pound or two just looking at the photos.

I really enjoyed these foto's quite a lot. The large group foto of the family members that were present gives a good idea of how Norwegians look. Also to see folks in their regional costumes was so nice that I just can't say enough about it. I am old-fashioned enough to appreciate them very much. Regional costumes are fading fast here and have become quite expensive. Well, actually they always were.

The cakes and flowers were enough to make one's eyes bulge. I can fully understand that your daughter needed to take a little power nap in-between things.

Thanks so much for posting these pics with explanations.

Thanks all for your nice comments. :D We've collected ourselves now, and since spring's arrived we're busy as bees both outside and indoors. We had a photo session for the thank-you cards, and I've been busy editing and picking the right photo.

    I don't think I'll use this though. :p
