Saw this at the garden center and brought it home. My first double clematis :-D ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) One of my 'Nelly Mosers' (they have self rooted so I have several) literally seemed to pop into bloom. ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) The old-fashioned lilacs are about finished, but the French lilac is just beginning ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) Now if I only had all day to weed, and the energy to do it
Things are looking VERY good this posting. The top clematis looks quite stunning. Are you pleased with the sink area? I think that it looks cosy.
Your new clematis is a real beauty. I can see why you had to have it. My French lilac is just starting to put out buds and I hope it will look as good as yours when it flowers. I bought two whie lilacs recently - one for the patio and one to be planted in the garden. I do love white flowers. :-D
Eileen, I have both the lavender and white. They come up from rhizomes which is a good thing since some kind of virus is really hard on them. This year I only had a few lavender blooms, but a lot of the white ones. :-D Sjoerd, things are filling in nicely. It is nice to see plants maturing. We have all the faucets and sinks set up, but haven't dedicated the time to set up the 'Y" s on the hoses and get the adapters to hook up the hoses to the faucets. This is my busy time of year at work, and I have way too many projects in the works in the yard should probably finish one project before I start two more :-?
Barb, you are very kind. Seems like every year my garden changes as some plants that I love turn into bully's and I execute them while others wither and die for unknown reasons. Don't worry I always post way too many photos. Cherylad, this particular variety is doing well for me. I am loosing a clematis on the front yard trellis. I am really such an amateur that even when i learn whats wrong with a plant i don't do anything about It. Then the neighbor tried to weed out my clematis 'Montana' just before it was ready to bloom. This would have been its first year to show off. Guess I need to move it off the property line. Your clematis will be jumping up the trellis in no time.
Beautiful blooms ... I LOVE your Clematis, new and old. I hope I get blooms on my white Lilac this year. It was loaded with buds and yesterday we had strong winds, hail, snow and there is frost predicted tonight. Keeping my fingers crossed...
Hi Jewell,..beautiful Clematis,..that white double is one i would love to have,..i took cuttings of two Clematis last year and they are thriving,..no flowers as yet. I have not come across Lilac for years but strangely looking at your Lilac i can recall the scent,..amazing. The area around your sink has filled in with blooms and greenery,..well done.
Got home a little late (close to dusk) and took a wander out back. Pond is more open..removed 2 blueberry bushes that hadn't been producing and looked sickly ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) The new solar lights weren't on yet, but I sure like the blue colored globes. Much nicer with less vegetation. Hope the real heron pays attention to the wires ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) Still admire my dragon almost daily ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) And his little friend...the early daylilies are starting to bloom ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) The annuals are beginning to take off in the pots on the patio ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) Going out to the veggie garden I pass the flowering onions and columbines...still going strong ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) And a little half basket of petunias hanging on a fence ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) A few flowers in the veggie area ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) But this lavender is the most fragrant I have ever smelled. They must make perfume from it...heavenly And a few more flowers ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) To bad we don't have smell-a-vision...lavender and clematis ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) I always leave this area and travel through the orchard and down around the woodland area. I'll save that for a little later.
Wow! There is a lot to love here Jewell. I like the combo of lavendar & clematis. I love your new double clematis too. The dragon & ?gremlin? are great, keeping guard over your garden. Where the gremlin is sitting looks like a welcome place to set awhile too. I also like your combo of allium & columbines...very pretty blending of colors. Finally, your pond is spectacular with its heron standing guard. Please do show us more as the season progresses. PS Your garden is ahead of mine: no blooms yet on allium, columbines or clematis. You have wetted my appetite.
I love every little piece of it, it is too hot here for me to grow those lovely old fashioned plants, but I have really enjoyed your garden and look forward to seeing more!
