I'd love to know what it is so I hope someone will come along and tell us. The buds are very decorative and I'd love to see the clusters fully open.

Those are gorgeous! Reminds me of sea shells... or pasta shells. I'm officially standing by to see what they are.

Are those flowers on a shrub? If so, they sure do look like mountain laurel. (Kalmia latifolia). But, I think mountain laurel is indigenous to the Northeastern US not Italy. ???

Cayuga I think you're right about it being a Kalmia. I guess the plant's in someone's garden, and if I can find one it'll soon be in my garden! :D

The species variety grows wild in the woods of central MA. The wild ones are usually just white, sometimes pale pink.

Oh!! I have one growing in the woods. It has never been the same after a big tree came down and crushed it. One branch came out of the stump after I cut the dead tree up and rolled it off the bush.Over the years it has been getting bigger but it has never flowered. I wonder if I can bury a branch and start a new one? Another experiment.

How embarsking. I should have recognised this. We have it Kalmia latifolia Minuet.
Bought it at a Plant Hunters Fair at The Dorothy Clive Garden (for those in Britain). It was very expensive. £3.99.

In my case, it wasn't the freeze and wet of winter that killed it, it was the drought of summer...
