Everything is growing by leaps and bounds. I really like the square foot gardening and the vertical gardening. It's so easy to maintain. I think next year I'm going square foot all the way.

everything is looking great! Question though about the cantaloupes being vertical... how will you support the fruit once they start to get big and heavy?

Your garden is taking full advantage of spring, isn't it? That is lovely--especially the peony. I miss peonies--too warm for them here. But, I can enjoy yours :stew1: !

Cheryl, I'm saving onion bags to tie on trellis to support melons.

Jane, Thanks and happy to share with you.

Donna, I have seen pantyhose used to bag the melons and hang from the trellis, too. They stretch as the fruit grows. Go to a thrift store or the dollar store and buy queen size and you are good to go.

A lot of hard work sure pays off. Your back yard looks like a farmers market. Interesting how you keep the squirrels away.

    Bunkie, Thank you

Eileen, I've seen your gardens and they are beautiful.

Carolyn, Good idea. I planted golden midget melons today, so going to need more supports.
Update on voles. I used 3 different mole, voles products this passed week and I think I saved some potatoes. My neighbor hollered over fence Sunday and asked if I was having a mole, vole problem. Said they were taking over his garden. He asked what I was doing to get rid of them. I wanted to tell him I was sending them to his garden. :D I told him what I was using and he said he could not poison them so I guess I'll just keep sending them his way.

Jerry. I'll try anything that works to keep squirrels and other critters at bay. I even planted tomato plants just for them by the fence in hopes of them leaving the garden alone. I know it's wishful thinking.

I just love what you have done Donna S.

I may try something like that this year. AS of today we haven't been able to get into our gardens. It's been too wet or on the day that it was good to do it, we had something to do...or hubby had gout and couldn't even walk for a few days.

It will be done by this weekend, I hope.
