Looking for a shrub no more than 3 feet tall & very thic

I am looking for a shrub that won't grow more than maybe 3 feet tall and is very very thick. I am BRAND NEW to this kinda stuff so any info will help. I'm in south GA so I would be a zone 8. Thanks. I don't really care about colors as long as these things are thick and tight.

Thanks. I know I've seen one like what I described somewhere but I can't remember where. It had small leaves and it was (excuse my lack of a knowledge and bad description) almost like a "fro" lol My wife has been driving me nuts about finding it. But thanks for the link. A Wards yew is a dwarf form of taxus that stays short with minimal effort. The joke in hort class was "Look out your back door and you will see I'm planting two wards yew." A small joke, virtually infintismal.

Are you trying to create a "fence" with it... like with hedges?

 

Yes. I want it to appear to be a green wall lol... My dad says he has boxwoods or something.

 

Then it's hedges your looking for. Do you care if they bloom or not? Can they get taller than the 3 feet and thus you'll just need to keep them trimmed to that height?

 

I would prefer them no taller than 3 feet. I don't care if they bloom. My wife will plant flowers around our yard for that reason. Thanks.

 

Will they be out in the yard, or against a building?

 

close to my house. They will see part sun part shade. My home is oriented north to south so the sun will rise or set facing them.
