So I'm like an addict to the dang lowes plant rescue/discount rack. The worst is its right next to my job, not even a store in between. I keep saying I'm not going in there again. But the urge to see what's there is horrible! Geesh! So I go on over and what do I find..... oh a whole assortment everyday, they don't last a day so you gotta go look. Hahaha So here's my finds from my last 3 trips......

June 16th, 2 more 10 cent lowes plants, these are for Hubbys back yard. ( photo / image / picture from Mrs. Galeassi's Garden )

The top is a Serena Angelonia, the second picture is a Coleus and a mexican heather cuphea. The coleus was amongst a wholebunch of then, this was the best looking one from the center, but they all looked pretty good to me. I know the mexican heather cuphea is a annual but it was fine just a few dead branches but cleaned up nice. These all were 10 cents a piece.

My next trip this week I went and there were tons of citrus trees and succulents. Succulents looked really bad, but I found this treasure barried on the rack.

Rescued Jade plant 6/17 ( photo / image / picture from Mrs. Galeassi's Garden )

This is a ripple jade plant, which I thought would look nice on my table, this room gets loads of daylight. Plus my other rescue succulents are doing better when I don't take them out. The heats kills them.. :( But that's allll good cause I love it righ where its at. I had the basket forever and its been every color and been all over the house. Now its black and I'm painting green vines on it and glued a seashell in the center of each side. Whatever I'm weird! Hahaha oh the price was a dollar.

Ok and todays finds.... I wasn't going to stop really.... but I found myself driving by and then I'm parking... hahaha And yeah you know I found a daylilly extravaganza. There were a lot of different things they had two racks and some trees. But I spotted the daylilies and they looked awesome. The other stuff looked bad. Like real bad. But I woulda bought them anyways if I had the room.... but I couldn't pass these up.

    (L) Daylily Happy Returns (R) Daylily Stella De Oro ( photo / image / picture from Mrs. Galeassi's Garden )

I already got a daylily Stella de oro a few weeks ago for 25 cents but it was bigger and in worse shape. This one I didn't even clean up yet and there's like 4 in the container. The other is a Daylily Happy returns which I know nothing about but liked to have something different. They had trays of the Stella de oro but the other there was only two. I paid 75 cents a piece for them.

    Great looking plants you got.
I have purposely been forgetting to check out the sale rack at Lowe's, but since I do need compost I will probably be there Friday morning.

Did you know that we have a special club here at GardenStew?
It's called Plantaholics Anonymous and I guess you've just joined as its newest member. :-D
We tell each other that we really, really don't need any more plants, we haven't the space and should be content with the ones we already have.
The plants, of course, don't know this and jump into our baskets and trolleys at every opportunity pleading with us to take them home to a better life. :p
We're all suckers for a sob story so end up rescuing them and all their friends.

    Welcome to the club. :D

Mrs. G, the cuphea (Mexican Heather) may be a short-lived perennial for you. They survive over the winter here in Texas, if the temps don't get below 20 degrees. I have had one survive in a protected area for three years.
And I'm very envious of your other finds, but glad they got to a good home. Isn't there something inherently very sad about unwanted plants sitting on a shelf, hoping someone will take them home and cherish them?
By the way, I'm a charter member of the Plantaholics Anonymous club.

I stopped at "that place" this morning on my way to work. They did have some different things on the racks... but nothing I couldn't live without. Your prices are much there than here. The cheapest thing I saw was a small Purslane for 50 cents. Everything else is from $1 to $10.
I did however buy a plant.... are you ready for this... at full price! A Red Hot Poker. I don't see them around here often. Dang... maybe I need to stop in there again in the morning and get another? :stew2:
    Nice "saves" Laura!

Nice finds! Hmmm, perhaps I should go to Lowe's more often. 10 cents? No........Really? Even if it's half dead I can usually revive a plant. I off to Lowe's. :)

    Thanks Mrs G.

This is my Happy Returns from last year.
It looks like a yellow Stella D'Oro to me.

Laura... mine isn't in bloom yet. Just do an internet search for Red Hot Poker Plant. I fell in love with them when I lived in New Mexico. This makes my fifth one I have planted. One that is blooming is the all yellow kind... and there's one more like it. Two more that I just moved to hopefully better spots... they should be the red/orange ones... if I remember correctly. And then the one I just got yesterday.

The Happy Returns Daylily is more of a yellow-yellow, while Stella has an orangey-yellow color...

Ok Cheryl I seen them, hey they look pretty neat. The ones I seen were yellow on bottom and red on top. Long stemed and long leaves. I forgot was like knaphora or something. Haha
Kay I can't wait until I can see for myself. I have my fingers crossed for this summer but probably not till next year. :(

Laura... you were close. They are Kniphofia. The tag shows them has having an orangy top and yellow bottom.
And guess what... I found a couple goodies today on the mark down rack!
Two Agapanthus (Lily of the Nile)... from almost $9 to $2. One was super root bound and the other was just sad.
Also picked up a Blue Plumbago. I swore I'd never get another one because they just don't come back after winter. But the tag said "Texas Superstar... zone 8". Oh well... for $2 I'll try one last time.
Even picked up some small annual Salvias... 40 cents each.
They must have heard me complaining about not having any thing good lately! :D
