Dolichos lablab "Hyacinth bean vine" is gorgeous. You'll enjoy it all season. http://www.floridata.com/ref/d/doli_lab.cfm
Also known as Lablab purpureus (Hyacinth Bean) I grow them every year, they will reseed themselves but they don't get carried away with the idea. I usually get only a couple of seedlings the next year.
thanks I thought it was a weed at first last yr I kept pulling it out and this year it came back big time so decided to let it stay this year now I am glad I did does it bloom at all now I am excited I love the way it climbs
Click on the blue link in my post, it will take you to the GardenStew plant page with photos of the beautiful bright purple blooms and the purple bean pods that follow the blooms.
I did after I had posted I am so excited that is a freebie for me love it it is growing up my front porch rails am very happy thank you all will take more pics when it gets up there and blooms
I love having it in my garden, it's pretty much carefree and will grow and bloom right through to the first freeze of the winter. Pull the seed pods off when they are crispy brown and save for next year or replant them in another location.
