Yep, and they will come back from seed for years. I love them. Cosmos sulphureus (Sulphur Cosmos, Yellow Cosmos)
I agree... Cosmos. I've love the pink, white, purple ones (especially their feathery foliage). So last year when I saw seeds for the orange and yellow ones, I thought they'd look great all mixed up. Well... the flowers looked okay, but I didn't like the foliage and they almost choked out the Pinks. So, I cleared out that bed as best I could over the fall and winter. Laid down cardboard and mulch to try to smother what seeds were still there. Then bought more of the Pinks and sowed them in the Spring. Guess what... the oranges are still popping up, but as soon as I see them (they are easy to tell the difference) I pull them out. And if I miss some, as soon as I see the flowers... out they come. Not that they aren't pretty... I just don't want them taking over the one's I really like.
oh thank you I love them I would love to get some pink ones I couldn't believe how tall they are and still growing
Cosmos bipinnatus 'Sonata Mix' (Cosmos) is the most common Pink/White/Purple Cosmos. They don't reseed as easily as the orange ones, for me anyway.
Toni... I've had great reseeding from the Sonata Mix. But you're right... those orange one's really know how to replenish themselves.
And to think cosmos doesn't like my garden at all It never comes up when I sow the seeds. The orange ones are gorgeous. I like the pink, white ones too.
Cosmos! Can anyone send me the pink, white, or purple seeds please? Actually any seed would do. Sounds lame but am asking for a birthday gift on Gardenstew; I dunno if it's even allowed
I won a bunch of seeds on listia and just scattered and am finding all kinds of stuff coming up don't have any idea what some are lol but I love it
Definitely cosmos. I used to have a bunch and I got rid of them and replaced them with cannas. Now I'm finding I miss them. They were easy constant bloomers.
I was thinking cosmos too. I have some pink ones which I love. I had had some orange ones, but have not seen them for a few summers. Oubee, pm your email sometime soon, and I can send you some pink cosmos seeds. I don't have enough for everyone, but can send a few.
