Back in May, I found these two boat shelves. Naturally, they wouldn't be used as intended, but destined to go out in the garden.

But how could I make the look not so out of place? I mean, you just can't have a boat sitting on the ground. I thought about making them look like they were in water, but that just seemed like to much work.
So, I commissioned two custom made boat trailers (from Hubby).

I planted up the boats with some Aloe and Moss Rose.

If my brothers were here, they'd probably make me park them all even and stuff. :D
And now I have a new spot to put neat nautical stuff that I run across. :stew2:

cherylad, That is so cute. Can't you incorporate those little ones with the big ones and trailers?

Barb... those are the little ones... they are about 2 foot long and 4-6 inches tall.

I LOVE those! Hubby is a marine mechanic and I am a gardener, so this would be perfect for a little welcome garden at the end of our laneway :)

It seems that Toni and Netty have their hearts set on your boats and trailers Cheryl. What a pity they're both going to miss out though as I'm going to get in there first!! :p

I love the trailers your OH made and think they look perfect with the little boats.

Hank... Even though the wheels do turn... it's a bit easier just to pick them up if they need moved. Hey... I just had an idea... now I need some trucks to hook up to the trailers!

Toni... since these are just out by the driveway, there's no bushes to rustle through. HOWEVER... my bedroom window is very close... so I may be able to hear you tip-toeing around out there.

Netty... Funny you should mention that! These are at the end of our driveway that leads to my brother's storage building, which is full of all sorts of boat stuff (including a boat). So these are in tribute to him and my other brother who are out living their dreams of sailing around the world.

Eileen... I think he did a pretty good job considering it was all scrap wood and he really didn't have anything to go by. He even put some nifty little details that don't show up in the photos.

I'll pass along all the nice words to the hubby.

And I guess I'd better bring the dog inside so she doesn't attack any of you tonight.
    :-D

These are fantastic Cheryl. Hubby did an amazing job. It's hard to grasp how big they are from the photos, could you tell us?
    Great, crafty job all around!
BTW be careful of gnome sailors.

Donna... what I really really want is an actual boat to put there (the space is about 6 foot). Even if it's just the front half of one. I've been keeping an eye out for one... but these will definitely work in the meantime.
Hope you spot some again soon.

Frank... Here's a photo with a regular bottle of water, which is 7.5 inches tall.

And I'll keep my eye out for those gnome sailors. Hey... that's another good idea... I'll have to see if I can find one of those! :stew2:
