    We had 3 1/2" of blessed rain last week, and all the gardens perked up. The first things to appear were rain lilies:

    The summer rain lilies are yellow or orange, and pop up all over the lawn.
    Then, the Peruvian Rock Rose which had been waiting for a bit of liquid encouragement blossomed:

    Our tough little Flame Acanthus was blooming, but after the rain it also put out more flowers;

    And of course the lantana, which blooms no matter what, attracted a skipper butterfly.

    A bit of rain sure makes the garden more interesting!

    That is wonderful! We had an 80% chance of rain yesterday and I watched the clouds all around me. NOT A DROP did I get!

    Jane, Glad you got some rain. Flowers are very pretty.
    We had such a hard rain that it washed away my new top soil and grass seed.

    What difference a little rain makes. :D Lovely flowers. I'm partial to the Lantana.

    Droopy, I'm partial to lantana also. It comes in a variety of colors--white, lavender, butter cream, gold, and variegated. It attracts butterflies and the little black seed pods that set after a bloom are loved by mockingbirds. The seed pods are toxic to humans, but mockingbirds can eat them with no bad effects.
