Through the years I have always loved daylilys but now the love has grown...I am running out of room to plant them. Here are some of the ones I have, I don't even have all of them in the album. Next summer I am going to walk around and take a picture of every one of the daylilys and put a number by it. I know I have 84 plants but with so many different sizes and shapes of some of the same color, it is hard to count. Some just got so large, I divided them and I had just dug out about 6 stellas. Maybe a small chalkboard so I wouldn't have to go through so much paper to number them...but it will be hard anyways because not all bloom at the same time.
Your daylilies are beautiful.Do you know the names of them ?Lots of peeps don't bother with names & tags but when you get a certain number it becomes necessary to have name tags. If I didn't have tags I wouldn't know where certain ones are & I used to do a lot of trading.Haha even with tags & maps things get lost.I don't even know how many I have but I know it is too many. But still I'm getting new ones at the end of the month. They introduce soo many new ones every year. But I have some older ones I won't part with.If I sell one or give it away I nearly always keep back a piece & stick it somewhere.Hard to reduce #s if I do that. sNs
I do know quite a few of the names...I belong to a daylily group on facebook. The older ones I cannot be so sure because so many of them look alike. I have started researching them and I am sure I will still be doing it this winter. Back when I first starting getting daylilys, no daylily groups (or facebook for me) around but now they have really peaked my interest. I did see one this morning named after Michael Jackson, I would really like to get my hands on that one. A beautiful pink , he named it as a tribute to Michael. I will add names when I can to them, I wasn't sure if anyone was interested in daylilys here.
I guess you have to go into my albums to see the names of them now that I put the names on some of them.....I know I would goof it up trying to get the name with the right picture here.
I love daylilies too. They were my mom's favorite flower, so I set up two beds just for them. There's a daylily farm about 45 minutes from my house, I've been there a couple of times. They have a great variety!
I hadn't seen anything quite like your double red. Love it! All of your daylilies are fantastic. I found a lime green abandoned day lily that had survived shade and total neglect for 20 years in the back 1/2 lot. Moved it close to the house to enjoy those big blooms with the other day lilies. Boy, can daylilies suffer through and still deliver blooms like few other plants. Too many? I have heard for years all parts are edible. http://honest-food.net/2010/06/29/dining-on-daylilies/. Always thought it would be fun to try, but have never had enough daylilies to feel like sacrificing a few. Instead I always give them away :-?
Interest in daylilies? We have the daylily subform with lots of info. http://www.gardenstew.com/forum-34.html. I would be interested in learning the name of the double red daylily. Jerry
Wow, I love them all. But the peach one is a favorite from your pic's. I will have to see what the name of that one is.
