Some of you may remember we used to have a fenced front yard, and I had a sweet autumn clematis that would cover about 12' of the fence. A few years we took the fence down, which left no home for the clematis. So I transplanted it, and I don't recall it flowering last year. But, it sure did this year!

Thanks! I cut this back almost to the ground each year, so a lot of maintenance is required, but it's worth it.

That is a beauty...I agree with Ronni, with not knowing they could grow that big and FULL...I can understand why you saved it.

So how long does it bloom in the Summer and will it live over my cold Winter?

It blooms late August through September where I live (zone 5). It will overwinter, and is considered invasive by many. It can grow 12-14' per year, so I cut it back to the ground in February or March before it starts growing again. That can be quite the chore if you don't have a good way of disposing of it. I just throw it in the back of the truck and take it to the recycling center with the rest of my yard waste.

Thank you. I think I NEED some of that. I need more flowers to bloom that time of year. My gardens got sort of drab in mid August.
