It has been over 40 years since this was last done and the reset feature on mom is still visible. It was accomplished quite by accident, the top of a cactus was severed. Not long afterward a new plant emerged from the top and produced a nice healthy plant(Junior). Mom again grew a new plant while Junior grew up to be big and healthy A few months later the Junior's brother came into the world followed a few months later by the twins. Enough!! Mom was allowed to grow without starting a new plant. Many years passed and a few harrowing stories, usually involving impalement of humans, were generated by the prickly family. At 5 feet tall Mom and Junior and showing no signs of reining in their rate of growth. It was time to reduce the danger. It was time to lop off two heads and wait for new cactus to grow. Hack, Hack!! Done!! It took but a few seconds to sever the two heads. Over the next few weeks the plants produced new cactus. Soon the new plants will be in their own pots.

No more button pushing, always a prickly undertaking.

Good for you. Something many people don't like to give their chidred a chop-chop. It is good for then once in a while.

One of the greatest things about plants.
Chop off their heads, they just grow even more. Maybe the origin of mythological monster stories. Off with their heads, I say.
