When the HMS Titanic sank in the North Atlantic after striking an iceberg, she was carrying a shipment of 1,000 jars of French Mayonnaise. It was to be unloaded at New York for transshipment to Mexico City. But alas the mayonnaise went to the bottom with the ship. When the Mexican government heard of this tragedy, they decided to celebrate a national holiday to commemorate the event. They decided that the holiday would occur every May 5th, and would be called.......... Cinco de Mayo.
Well that's certainly something I didn't know about. That's what I like most about GardenStew - you learn somnething new nearly every single day.
Good one, CK, got me good... I was a post or two on down the list before I thought out the 'sound' of the Mexican Holiday then had a ROFL moment... Tried to send you the comedian patch but something is broke in my connection to the GS website, my computer or ISP, don't know which.. Hank
Groannnnnn . . . . The guy next door, who was not kidding, said, "The Cinco de Mayo comes around the same time each year." Well, yes it does, and how observant of him to notice that.
